League Rules

How the games are played, what the league expects of you, and everything on the line — compensation, awards, the sneaker raffle, tickets and merch.

Rules & regulations

On the Court

Standard 5-on-5 league play.

  • 24-second shot clock.
  • FIBA rules.
  • 12-minute quarters, running clock.
  • Two technical fouls per game. After the second you'll be asked to exit the premises — returning requires a $50 reinstatement fee.
  • Pro line in effect.
  • Teams must start with 5 players and finish with 5, or forfeit. After a 10-minute warmup the clock starts running.
  • All players must have full jersey sets. A lost jersey carries a $65 replacement fee — you cannot play without your full uniform.
  • No refunds, except in the case of a league cancellation.

FIBA 3x3

The 3x3 Tournament

Half-court, first to 21. The tournament runs under FIBA 3x3 rules.

Format

  • 3 players on the court, plus substitutes.
  • Half court, one basket.
  • 10-minute running clock.
  • First team to 21 wins, even with time left.
  • If neither team reaches 21, the highest score at 10 minutes wins.
  • Overtime: first team to score 2 points wins.

Scoring

  • Inside the arc: 1 point.
  • Behind the arc: 2 points.
  • Free throws: 1 point each.

Shot clock

  • 12 seconds to attempt a shot.
  • Resets to 12 on a change of possession.

Possession & check ball

  • After a made basket the defense takes over — no throw-in from out of bounds.
  • The ball is taken behind the arc and checked to the opponent.
  • After a defensive rebound or steal, clear the ball behind the arc before scoring.

Fouls

  • No individual foul-outs like 5-on-5 — team fouls decide free throws.
  • Two unsportsmanlike fouls disqualifies a player.
  • Team fouls 7, 8 or 9: opponent shoots 2 free throws.
  • Team fouls 10+: opponent gets 2 free throws plus possession.

Timeouts & subs

  • Two timeouts per team.
  • The game clock runs except during stoppages.
  • Substitute on any dead ball — no formal stoppage required.

Conduct

How We Carry Ourselves

You represent yourself, your family and the league every time you step on the floor.

  • No fighting or profane language.
  • If someone goes up for a dunk, let it happen — unless you're the shot blocker.
  • Don't smell like weed. There will be children present. Represent yourself and your family with pride.
